Our Impact
At HomeWoven, our impact is measured by the lives that directly benefit from the homes we preserve and the neighborhoods we reinvigorate. Each year, we complete hundreds of home repairs, accessibility modifications and new construction projects for low- to moderate-income homeowners—primarily older adults and immigrant and refugee families—across the Omaha metro. Our programs promote safety, independence and generational wealth while addressing the region’s most urgent housing needs.

With a longstanding legacy of service, we started in 1995 as Christmas in April Omaha. Armed with a modest $5,000 budget and a mission to help five families, our founders completed critical home repairs and live in safer environments. That early spirit of solidarity and hands-on service laid the foundation for decades of impact.
-
In 2002, we changed our name to Rebuilding Together Omaha to align with the national Rebuilding Together network, through which we learned, grew and deepened our home repair expertise over the next 16 years.
-
By 2017, strategic planning by our Board of Directors revealed that Omaha's housing needs and our organization required a new model.
-
In February 2018, we reintroduced ourselves to the community as Project Houseworks, expanding our staff and programs to better respond to the growing demand for safe, stable housing.
-
In 2019, we launched efforts to purchase, rehab and resell single-family homes, creating pathways to homeownership for low-income families while revitalizing neighborhoods.
-
Building on that success, we officially established our Home Affordability Program in 2021 to increase access to affordable homeownership and address Omaha’s critical housing shortage.
-
Now, we are continuing our work as HomeWoven. Our programs have expanded to include construction efforts while continuing to lead long-standing programs that support older adults, immigrants and refugees.
Today, we are proud to be a member of the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM), the Greater Omaha Chamber and Sarpy County Chamber. These partnerships reflect our commitment to professional excellence, community collaboration and long-term impact.
