Home Preservation Program
Improving accessibility and independence.
Each of our Home Preservation Program services are designed to identify key issues, hazards and needs that need to be addressed. Common repairs include plumbing, flooring, broken doors or windows, weatherization, HVAC or installation of accessibility tools, like grab bars or ramps. Working with our clients and team of experts, we determine which repairs are necessary to keep the home livable and secure. Licensed contractors and trained professionals complete repairs at no cost to the homeowner.
Our Services
Our Home Preservation Program services are organized into three areas:
AGING IN PLACE
IMMIGRANT & REFUGEE HOME REPAIR
GREENLINING HOME IMPROVEMENT
These initiatives are designed to promote independence, address historical injustice and strengthen our neighborhoods.
Aging in Place
Aging in Place Services, part of our broader, are designed to help low-income older adults remain safely and independently in the homes where their memories are held. As homes age and physical needs change, many homeowners face barriers to mobility and safety, especially in bathrooms, entryways and kitchens. Our team of experts addresses these issues through no-cost essential repairs and accessibility modifications, such as grab bar installation, walk-in showers, handrails, non-slip flooring and more. By reducing fall risks and eliminating household hazards, Aging in Place helps promote quality of life for older adults in the Omaha metro area.

Homeowners must be at least 60 years old and live within the Omaha metro area. We prioritize individuals:

Immigrant and Refugee Home Repair
Immigrant and Refugee Home Repair Services are designed to support low-income homeowners who are New Americans, many of whom face unique challenges in home maintenance, accessibility and navigating the housing system. Language barriers, cultural differences and access to financial resources often leave these families with critical repair needs that go unmet. This program provides free, essential home repairs and safety modifications, ensuring that immigrant and refugee homeowners live safely in homes where they build roots.
Eligibility
Homeowners who identify as immigrants or refugees may qualify if they:
Live in the Omaha metro area.
Have a household income at or below 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Greenling Home Improvement
Greenlining Home Improvement Services are designed to address systemic disinvestment in historically redlined neighborhoods throughout the Omaha metro. In partnership with Front Porch Investments, this program provides free, critical home repairs and safety upgrades to low-income homeowners living in areas that have faced decades of housing inequity. These repairs help preserve aging housing stock, reduce displacement, restore housing stability and improve home value for families building generational wealth. By investing in these historically disadvantaged neighborhoods, Greenlining Home Improvement supports racial and economic equity while helping residents remain safely and affordably in their homes.
Eligibility
Homeowners must:
Reside in an eligible neighborhood, as defined by our redlining and disinvestment mapping criteria.
Meet income qualifications, typically at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
We prioritize households facing significant health and safety risks or accessibility barriers.
