Project Houseworks Receives Greenlining Fund Award to Strengthen Home Preservation

We are proud to announce that Project Houseworks has received $580,000 from the Greenlining Fund, a key initiative of Front Porch Investments. This funding will help us grow our efforts in Omaha’s historically redlined neighborhoods, ensuring more families and senior homeowners can stay safely in the communities they cherish.

This award underscores the significance of our mission and acknowledges the tireless efforts of our staff, volunteers, and partners. Most importantly, it is an investment in Omaha families who deserve safety, stability, and dignity in their homes.

About the Greenlining Fund

The Greenlining Fund was established by Front Porch Investments to directly address the lingering impact of historic redlining practices that excluded communities of color and low-income families from accessing homeownership and fair lending opportunities.

The Fund provides zero-interest, forgivable loans and grants that help families complete repairs, preserve equity, and build wealth. What makes the Greenlining Fund unique is its participatory decision-making model, in which community members from historically redlined neighborhoods serve alongside funders and experts to shape where dollars flow and how investments are made.

The Greenlining Fund is not just about repairing houses. It is about restoring trust, repairing harm, and reinvesting in the people who have carried neighborhoods forward despite systemic barriers. With this award, Project Houseworks will be able to expand the reach of its programs and ensure that safe, stable housing is not a privilege but a right.
